    It's 52F and showery in Eureka, CA today. We had some lightning and thunder last night, and the cat, Zimmy, had to hide under the bed for awhile. Mostly just gray and chilly today.

    OD, I was born and raised in Portland, OR, and as an amateur gardener and naturalist, I ran into the name Hendersonii over many years.  So glad to finally find out who he was! I remember my surprise, as a young adult, when I found out that marshmallow was a plant! In my experience up to then, it was something that one ate at Easter. An appropriate date for this diary.
