  •  Beautifully written, Marti. (11+ / 0-)

I know I'm a sentimental sort, but I did not expect to be in tears by the end of your moving diary.  I'm used to The Marti from C&J and other places here on KOS.  My partner has been gone for fifteen years now. Your tribute brought back memories for me that I had somehow forgotten.  Thank you for that.  I'm not religious, but I believe true love is never lost, just put on hold for a while.

    •  Now you've brought me to tears! Isn't it funny (7+ / 0-)

      how time slips away?

A heartbeat or two, and Time is stripped of its power, and the laughter of a loved one is as clear as birdsong in spring.  And has the same effect...joy, heartache....heart's ease.  I don't know why it works that way, but it does.

Mostly, I'm a cheerful, sassy old thing.  This was a complete surprise to me, too, as it happens!  I just started out to answer a friend's question.  And here we are.

I wish you joy in your memories, and comfort from the love you shared.

      Marti

We cannot call ourselves a civilised society if we refuse to protect the weakest among us.
