  •  My question is, of course (6+ / 0-)

meant for meknow, the theologian in our midst.

Gotta love people who say they're Christians but think we should all live by the Levitical laws.:D

    •  Aw, you disappoint me, meknow (4+ / 0-)

All I'm asking for is a simple quote from Jesus about the "sin" of homosexuality.

He preached to crowds of thousands, didn't he? And statistically, a certain percentage of those crowds were gay people. What a great opportunity for Jesus to tell us that he hates teh gays as much as some of his present-day followers do! Surely you can find the quote somewhere...

Oh, I bet all you're finding in the Bible is Jesus ripping religious people who try to oppress others with their brand of laws, laws that have nothing to do with God. Well, keep looking, we'll wait.

      •  as a matter of fact Jesus did exactly that... (0+ / 1-)

the sadducees were doing just what you charge... they were taking advantage of the people;  remember when He over threw the tables of the money changers in the temple and whipped them out.  he called the pharisees and sadduces vipers and hypocrits who tell the people one thing and do another, that they wore their religion on their bodies but not in their hearts...

He did not hate the woman caught in adultry, in fact his point was not that she was not guilty but what about the ones who had brought her to Him to stone.  And He had the right to do so because it was still Old Testament law that was in effect at this time.

sin and its punishment under old testament laws was usually immediate and servere.  Jesus was giving  them a picture of he institution of Grace that was coming

    •  on this side of the cross yeah... (0+ / 0-)

      try Romans 1: 24-32 emphasis on vs 26 & 27

      also try 1 Corin. 6: 9-11  emp on 9

      and 1 Tim 1: 8-11 emp vs 10

now Paul was an Apostle of Christ.  in other words Jesus was his mentor/teacher...  do you think Paul would have taught other that what Jesus wanted him to?

since you so easily dismiss these and the Leviticus laws of sexual sins I hesitate to ask this but I will anyway.  How do you feel about Paul's admontition of the church at corinth about the young man sleeping with his step mother.  or sleeping with your sister or brother or brothers wife, neice, nephew, aunt, grand ma and so on...  are there any lines not to cross or is it just how you feel at the moment that gets the button pushed...  um jess sayin'
