  •  If you somehow think (4.00)
that the democratic party is right-wing, then your nuts.

Yeah? At least YOUR Congressional District has elected a Democrat sometime in the last 124 years. (TN-1)

is a relative matter, as I'm sure you know. Do I think the Dems have been all-but-completely compromised by corporatism? Yes I do, and if you can show me something else please do. Do I think they're far too complicit in "soft imperialism" aka the Iraq War, yes I do. Show me, if you can, how the mainstream Democrats effectively oppose these two crucial initiatives.

The Dems of today are to the right of the establishment Republicans of the 60's, as many have pointed out - so yes that makes them right-wing to me, but only relatively and only in part, and they're still much better than today's Repubs, who are latter-day John Birchers. Dean is a traditional centrist but he's pilloried as a "leftist" because he believes in a healthy middle class.

And I hate Nader intensely and always vote a straight Dem ticket. I just hoped that well-meaning establishment Dems like Gore and Kerry would see what was really happening and break out of the DC yuppie-think that seems to have blinded them. Maybe it's not too late for them, but mostly I hope it's not too late for us who were counting on them to do something better.

If effectiveness is the test, we're all right-wingers!

Seriously, though, Gore has completely woken up.

I do basically agree with the point you're making.  There's no further worthwhile compromise.  If we're going to lose battles - and we are - we should lose them with a tough, united stand that strikes in clear relief the contrast between plutocratic fascists and the party of the people (which many Dems in Washington forget we are).

Class warfare is our nuclear option, and we should go well beyond threatening to use it.  It's the only way to get back Howard Dean's guy with a pick-up truck.  We've got to tell him that he's paying bills in blood and treasure for the thieves in suits who are looting Enron and beggaring the American middle class.

to you and all the other newbies, this is not a troll comment. You don't give a 1 to someone just because you don't like the message.
