"During the past 25 years, the New York office of Covington has established close ties to the New York corporate and Wall Street financial communitiesand to the most important state and federal courts.  The office’s broad-based litigation practice, with one of the strongest white collar defense teams in New York"

That's directly from their own website.

Did you even bother reading any of the diary entry?

is a DC Law Firm with an office in New York.  Not that this really matters - since big firms are mostly the same (I worked for one).

I don't know why people are surprised. He is a lawyer - a lawyer is not the same thing as his clients - as any defense lawyer will tell you.

speaks volumes about the modern education system regarding ethics and the Classics.

it takes a truly warped mind to think there's nothing wrong with a guy making 6 figures in the private industry who takes an influential public policy position, then a few years later gets a position earning 4 million to use the influence he gathered.

it's about the corruption inherent in the revolving door between k-street/dc in general/wall street/big money interests. it's not about "everyone deserves a defense" it's the deep deep corruption that makes these kinds of career moves possible.

and nobody is surprised, maybe you didn't get the strong tone of irony in the people expressing surprise.

Lanny "douchebag" Breuer is being criticized not because he represents criminals, but because his so- called career would constitute one long ethics violation in any system that placed notion of fairness, integrity and due process over the rights of plutocrats to violate our laws with impunity.

I have nothing but contempt for this p.o.s. and regret I don't believe in the hell he so richly deserves.

Deserves it! I daresay he does. Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement. For even the very wise cannot see all ends. - Gandalf the Grey
