  •  It's amazing how hardy some perennials are (1+ / 0-)

In my mother's family's old garden, there were irises that had not been tended in 30 years that were still going strong.  I dug around in my yard a bit to try to figure out what's out far I see crocus, daffodils (or jonquils? can't tell yet), tulips (I think), what might be grape hyacinth, and something else that's just starting to poke up through the mossy ground on the shady side of the yard; no clue what that is.

I know there's a lilac tree (no idea which color yet) in the back, a giant pink rosebush next to the garage, and a pinkish/purple rhododendron of epic proportions on the front lawn. I think the tree on the front lawn is a big overgrown crab apple of some kind but I'm not sure about that, either. I missed all the spring flowers last year; all I saw were the roses and a couple of yellow lilies and purple something-or-others next to them, and lots of hosta and moss.
