    I wrote that in my diary.

    I find the idea that Cesar Chavez wouldn't have a moral compass without Jesus both funny and insulting. It's the argument from morality. And it's especially funny given that Jesus's moral teaching on treating the poor with respect was not teaching limited to Jesus.

    Unless, of course, this is a case of a poorly placed comma. Because I can see where the sentence could be read to mean: Without Jesus, Chavez would not have had Jesus's moral teaching. But the word "his" is pretty unclear in that sentence.

    And it's still probably untrue since, as I said, most of Jesus's teachings had been taught by spiritual teachers independent of Jesus.
