    or, at least, not acknowledging, is that Adolfo Carrion (former Dem Bronx Borough President) is running on the Independence Party line. If/when Quinn inevitably wins the Dem primary, that leaves Carrion as the only person of color in the race, potentially splitting the traditional Dem coalition and handing the GOP nominee the win. Especially if the race gets ugly and people of color think Bill Thompson was unfairly treated, they will not support Quinn.

    I don't think any of this is especially likely to happen, but I don't think it's impossible. Both Joe Lhota and John Catsimatidis seem likeable enough personally to appeal to people.

        that's MY impression of him as well, but I'm the sort of person who posts on an elections blog.

        It seems to me that he can pull off the sort of gregarious, off-the-cuff, not-a-politician, self-made-businessman shtick that resonates with average voters. We shall see.
