  •  the Mormon Citadel (0+ / 0-)

is primarily Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming.  Arizona has a bigger population than average, but not as significant as those states.

    •  Wyoming is also pretty small (0+ / 0-)

11% isn't nothing, but it's equivalent to the Black population of Pennsylvania which nobody thinks of as that significant.

        •  No, I meant in percentage terms (0+ / 0-)

Mormons in Wyoming are as influential as Blacks in Pennsylvania.

because 11% is a bit below the national average for African Americans, while 11% is way above the average for Mormons.

            •  We don't describe influence as relative to the (0+ / 0-)

national average.  Native Americans (technically Alaska Natives) are very common in Alaska relative to the country but nobody talks about their influence.  Why?  Because they're still a relatively small percentage of the state.

Really the only places where Mormons significantly matter are Utah, ID-2, and whatever number Matt Salmon's district is in Arizona.

                that doesn't make it universal.
