  •  Great topic tonight, cfk! (13+ / 0-)

Very much enjoyed your diary tonight.  As usual, when asked to think of something that fits a particular meme, all my ideas completely desert me!  I'm trying to think of something I read and felt very disappointed in.  I do recall that with Diana Gabaldon's book Outlander, I wished it would STOP.  By the time I finished it I was exhausted.  One wants a book to end before one is quite ready to let the characters go.

I have been doggedly reading Jane Feather's books but am almost finished.  I'm weary of descriptions of s-x.  I don't need to have every little detail spelled out--I'm a grownup!  I also have an extremely hard time believing that gently reared young women of "the quality," as they were known in the 18th and 19th centuries, were quite so ready to surrender themselves to rakish lords on 48 hours' acquaintance, or indeed any length of time at all before marriage.  Also, despite constant carrying on, none of the young ladies ever gets pregnant!  Quite different from real life.

So I've had it with that genre.  Now reading nonfiction, a bio of Ann Richards called Let the People In. Quite interesting!
