  •  It is a mix. I can feel the pain, but still notice (14+ / 0-)

that the baby quails following their parents across the driveway are cute. And that the roses we planted outside our bedroom door smell heavenly.

My sister died in January of 1965. I still remember how much meaning Easter held for me that year, and how every year after, spring was my favorite season. This year it marks the anniversary of my husband's death as well as my brother's.

It sucks because I just want to feel the renewal of the season. I can't imagine how hard it must be to juggle death and birth the way you have had to do every April since you were eight.

    •  I believe that you will again (9+ / 0-)

feel the renewal of the season.  The rise and fall of emotions the first year or two is exhausting, but I hope it will even out as it has for me and many friends.

I grew up on a farm and garden whenever I can, so I think of it as a time to let the field go fallow for a while and rest with nature until it is restored by native plants, sun and rain.

Actually, we need to plant legumes here to hold down the dirt, so will just say it is an individual path for each of us.
