    The guy with his hand on the saw blade is my great grandfather, and the little guy by the chimney on the traction engine is my grandfather. Judging by the age of my grandfather, this photo was taken around 1915 in Roadwater, Somerset.

    My great grandfather was something of an engineering wizard, and after the war, it became fashionable for the rich to have paved drives and tennis courts, and for that work he needed a steam roller. So he built one from scratch using railway lines for the chassis/frame, and scrap from Royal Navy ships for the mechanics and the rollers.
