    and you're right about the increase.  12.6% between 2007 and 2011.  I'd forgotten that areas heavy with Federal employees don't suffer market downturns the way Toll Brothers McMansion parks or post-industrial Rust Belt urban hellholes.

    However, the countywide average rent for a one-bedroom in 2011 was only 1309$.  The most expensive area (Bethesda) was still only 1723$.  We can't know exactly what other factors apply because we don't know where he lives or works.  I suspect his kids don't live in the 1-bedroom with him most of the time.

    My main point was that this guy's been fiscally irresponsible and that his case was a bad example of the sequester hitting Federal employees.
