It's going to be a bad year to be a 2010 republican...

supported marriage equality and was forced from his position.  But a lot of Republicans here in Illinois are starting to think that might have been an overreaction.  The GOP in Illinois is more prone than most state parties to divide along the oligarch/god-botherer faultline.  The rich folks in Illinois either don't care about marriage equality or support it as consistent with their general libertarian take on government.  The bible-thumping base downstate is as reactionary as any group of republicans anywhere.  Therein lies the risk for Kirk, but also the opportunity.  If he feels he can obtain more suburban moderates than the number of fundie nutcases he loses, he may support it.

One thing is certain - Kirk will never vote according to his conscience, because he has none.  Sociopathic weenie never supported expansion of access to rehabilitative services until he had his stroke.

If he endorses, he's going to get a social conservative primary. He's going to have a hard enough time making it through the general as is. Does he really want a tough primary on top of it?
