    The European project is aimed at building a computer model of the brain; the American effort is aimed at mapping all the neural connections and activity in the brain.

      He's fibbing about it being all about 'complimentarity'.
      Its about not letting the EU eat our biotech lunch.
      And thats how it was sold to the people whose opinons actually matter.

        on their Human Brain Project, so this $100 million US effort is probably not going to blow them out of the water.

          once the sandbags (aka republicans) that the keep our balloon from reaching any altitude are jettisoned, we may have a chance to soar just as high as they do.  Besides, science works by scientists sharing data.

        Glad to hear that at least some in our government are starting to catch on.

        He is first to invest in science is most likely to reap its rewards.  In more folksy language, "the early bird get the worm".
