Senior senator from Maine just blows my mind.  But she's not my senator; I have two utter lunatics to deal with down here in Texas, the scarier one with enormous political ambitions.

Keep an eye on Angus King though. I already think I was right to vote for him.

I read a lot of information about a lot of different candidates in different states, and Angus King really stood out.  He seems to be very intelligent with a good political philosophy.  I came to like him too; I hope he's able to do a good job for the people of Maine.

going on 18 years now - if she stands for re-election next year, it'll be for her fourth term.

That's a fair whack of time to have one job, even in politics. But then, she entered the Senate rather young - she was only 44 when elected. Given some intestinal fortitude, she could serve for another three or even four full terms before deciding to hang up her hat - and let's face it, she'll probably be in the Senate for as long as she wants to be.

to turn Texas Blue? It will happen regardless, but the idea is to get it to happen at least one election sooner, and then undo the gerrymander to keep it safe thereafter.
