  •  I reject that notion. (0+ / 0-)
    With rights come responsibilities.
No, responsibilities exist independently of rights.
Don't forget that if you can't pass a test, you can't get a driver's license.
And those tests are based on whether you can safely operate a motor vehicle, not whether you can run twenty yards without getting winded.
Same should be true for concealed carry and open carry.
I'm all in favor of safety standards for concealed weapons permits, but I've seen no reason to think that requiring physical fitness or even better-than-average marksmanship would significantly improve public safety.

Don't tell me about "gunfail."  Poor marksmanship is not the problem in any of those situations.

And imposing restrictions with no significant benefit seems like just an excuse to say "no."

Your end of the Constitution is sinking.

    •  I disagree. (0+ / 0-)

I think physical fitness standards should be required for concealed carry and open carry permits. They can be adjusted by age, but they should be in place.

We want conditioned shooters out there. It's safer for them and for others. It's a safety issue just like operating a motor vehicle.

We should also have anger management tests for concealed and open carry permit applicants.

Suggested liberal gun lovers' motto: "More liberal than the NRA on everything except guns."
