Good for you Secretary Hagel. That's called standing with your people--which anyone who serves or has served in the military learns about starting on day one. From a Navy veteran in Houston who can't stand that yellowbellied yabbo Ted Cruz.

I really feel for you bein a Texan as I posted this more as a point of the way the cruz came outta the gate slammin Kerry and Hagel like the little weasel 'chickenhawk' he is and they do!

As you live there that's a point you should make often, he spent the whole past decade plus hiding till he turned 42 and jumped on the public dole!!

      •  Cruz has been on the public teet a lot longer. (10+ / 0-)

He was the Solicitor General of Texas for 5 years (the longest in Texas history). He was also Director of the Office of Public Planning at the FTC, was an Associate Deputy Attorney General at DOJ, and was a domestic policy adviser (all with W), as well as serving as a clerk to Chief Justice Rehnquist at SCOTUS and a clerk on the 4th Circuit US Court of Appeals. So even though he was also a partner in a private law firm, Cruz has spent a lot of time taking from the public teet that he so despises.

And by the way, Cowardly Cruz is still just young enough to volunteer for military service--like that will ever happen. And as for his vaunted Ivy League pedigree, after my service in the Navy I attended graduate school at Cornell in Physics--so that Princeton/Harvard BS of his doesn't impress me in the least. I've also worked with Nobel Prize winners myself, so his Rehnquist CV doesn't light any fires under me. As I said before Cruz is just a yellowbellied yabbo suffering from delusions of grandeur. Even in my mid-60s, I would love to meet him on a lacrosse field--just to watch him run away.
