  •  My daughter was on base when this happened. (15+ / 0-)

She called me from under her desk because she knew I'd be watching the news like I do all day long. She wanted me to know she was okay before it hit the news.

I'm sorry, I assure you, had she been killed or injured, I wouldn't be concerned if she were awarded a Purple Heart or not.

You'll also not convince my daughter this was an act of terrorism. She believes he was messed up, and this was a result. She blames the Army for knowing Hassan had issues, and was quite public about them, and no one did anything.

Not that this means anything to anyone else, but that's where she is. That's where I'm at. I also won't carry the Right Wing's water for them in their outrage over this issue. I believe if it comes out in evidence that terrorism had anything to do with this, the decision to award the medals will be changed. But again, I personally don't think it's the most important issue of the day, and is merely a distraction.

I'd like to start a new meme: "No means no" is a misnomer. It should be "Only 'Yes' means yes." Just because someone doesn't say "No" doesn't mean they've given consent. If she didn't say "Yes", there is no consent.
