    i suggest you review the past fifty years of korean inter-peninsular politics. biggest new thing going on right now is that china is pissed at north korea, and warning it of consequences if it doesn't pipe down.

    this is a negotiation, a dick-waving, an attempt to jiggle the balance of power in the region around while south korea, japan and china have new regimes getting settled.

    obama has good diplomats in place with steel nerves, the US is not going to pull the trigger on a war. this will end in a climb-down and another round of diplomatic talks, with minor if any shelling of minor outlying islands or gun rounds fired at korean boats. this is not going to turn into a hot war, any more than the last gazillion of these things.

    what china does is the big deal here.
