Alrighty then.  And one who can only say what his data "appears" to show (whose six-year-old "figures include accidental shootings, suicides, even acts of self-defense, as well as crimes"), no less.  How he is able to evaluate "inequality", among other things, is particularly questionable, as is the claim that "We found no statistical association between gun deaths and mental illness or stress levels."  He goes on the claim that no association between gun violence and higher levels of inequality could be determined, then claims a correlation between gun death and poverty.

    •  Poverty and inequality are separable (0+ / 0-)

Tennessee, for instance, has a very high rate of poverty but relatively low inequality (due to lack of rich people). New York has very high inequality (due to heavy concentration of rich people) but relatively low poverty.

I make $9 an hour, that's perpetual poverty.

How many people are not ever "surveyed" because they have cellphones as their primary phone service?  All I can afford these days is the "MagicJack" that cost $20 year.  And that only works when my computer is on and it's plugged into a USB port.

While I've mentioned this a few times, the numbers being reported need to be verified.

We know that the NYC Police, ever since the Clinton Administration tied Federal Funding to a lower crime rate, they've been systematically padded.

        Oh, You Mean Those Quotas

Schoolcraft, for example, recorded a fellow officer lamenting that he'd been instructed to downgrade a car theft to "unauthorized use of a vehicle," as well as to find a way around reporting the thefts of a cell phone and video game system. In another recording, Schoolcraft captured the results as he voiced his concerns about crime stats manipulation to a unit within the department that audits such data. One officer with the unit acknowledged the political pressure to juke the stats. "The mayor's looking for it, the police commissioner's looking for it...every commanding officer wants to show it," he said. "So there's motivation not to classify reports for the seven major crimes."
And what did the NYPD do to that whistleblower?

The went to his home and illegally had him committed to a Psych Ward!

So, how do we know any of these "surveys" are even close to reality????

        We don't!
