Especially with no training going on.
A friend sat his 10 year old down and told him that he could have a pellet gun under the following rules. Child was to gather up all his toy guns and turn them in. Talked about the difference between tools and toys. Said that once he got a real gun, there was no playing with it, or any toy gun again. If he was seen handling it in an unsafe manner, it would be taken for a period of time.
Dad was a good and responsible hunter, and the boy grew up to be the same. I always admired what he did with the boy, especially the tutorial on toys vs. tools. It's one that a lot of adults should have drummed in to their heads. /don't get me started on cell phones as toddler toys!

Only thing more infuriating than an ignorant man is one who tries to make others ignorant for his own gain. Crashing Vor

I think I was 7 when I got my first BB gun and 10 when I got my first shotgun.  I was 12 when I received my first .22 and sixteen when I got an auto 12 gauge
