  •  Is fingerprinting an issue? (0+ / 0-)

The federal government got my fingerprints before they would issue me an M16 or a .45 caliber colt. My state government got my fingerprints before I could get a driver's licence or enter a classroom as a teacher.

A fingerprint is a form of personal identification, as is a photograph or a signature. My position on fingerprinting is that if the state has a compelling interest in making sure I am who I say I am, then collecting a fingerprint, or a whole set of fingerprints, is warrented.

My position on gun owner licencing in general is that a gun is a gun is a gun, since they are going to licence some gun owners, licence them all.

Do they really think Maryland hunters would object to getting a fingerprint/signature/photo ID licence to go along with their hunting rifle or shotgun? This sounds more like a 'WallMart' exemption to me.
