  •  He did try that (0+ / 0-)

last week at the debate. Markey defended the 1996 Telecommunications Act and Lynch tried to go populist: "Folks, take out your cable bill and if tell me if you think it's a good deal."

But they run on the right on the environment (Keystone XL opponents are "radical environmentalists"). He's hoping to do enough left-bashing to win over those sort-of populists who liked Scott Brown but hate lib'ruls.

Republicans...think the American standard of living is a fine thing--so long as it doesn't spread to all the people. And they admire the Government of the United States so much that they would like to buy it. Harry S. Truman

I'd be looking to out-liberal the guy on cable bills and media consolidation.  I'd shut the fuck up about every thing else. I'd just stick to "Scott Brown was the Bank's guy. Ed Markey is the Media's guy." Its not only effective its true.

Then again, Lynch has never been big on brains now has he?

with his own community, his own base.  His rhetoric would have played well in those communities 25-30 years ago, but reality has forced them to move on.  It was 30 years ago this year that the Sheet Metal Workers made a high-level commitment to renewable energy.  Within 10-15 years all the other building trades unions had followed suit, because the young plumbers and sheet metal workers and ironworkers understand where the jobs of their future have to come from.   Lynch is an anachronism.

Ever get the feeling you've been cheated?
