Is the system that works. It is a successful combination of capitalism and politics with "sideboards" to promote the social and educational growth of the whole civilisation, in our case, a republic.

It is not pure Socialism. It is not pure Capitalism. It is using the creative energy and marketing ability of people in the marketplace to ensure that all citizens are given roughly an even chance at the start of their lives, free to succeed or fail.

If you succeed, you are rewarded, and if you fail, you live a much more limited life, but one which does not threaten your personal extinction.

This is good for the successful, because they will not be threatened by those who fail in terms of crime, labor shortages, conflict and life-shortening stress.  It is good for those who fail, for the same reasons, AND because it promises hope for those who continue to educate their children and neighbors.
