    is the civil version. The religious ceremony is optional.

    Other than that, every religion has the right to refuse to marry gays, just as a Baptists can never be forced to marry Buddhists or a Imam can never be forced to marry a Catholic couple. All gays are asking for is the right to be married legally.....and spiritually by any church willing to do that, like the Unitarians

      who gets married and in what sort of ceremony? I can see the importance of proclaiming the right of passage and commitment with a ceremony so it will be memorable, and even get how a special place to have the ceremony would best meet expectations for tradition and all that but what makes it so important that when you fly in the face of convention your do so conventionally?
