that Democrats need people who are fanatic about voting.  I was rather horrified to see that the expected turn-out for the April 2 election in WI was around 20%!  My husband and I vote regularly because we believe it's the only way we can really make our preferences known.  I am, quite frankly, beyond merely irritated that Pat Roggensack beat Professor Fallone in the WI Supreme Court race.  That woman lacks judicial temperament and she also lacks the integrity to be on the WI Supreme Court.  He needed support and it wasn't there except for Milwaukee and Madison/Dane County.

There were TWO weeks available for early voting.  We took advantage of that.  Yet, the Democratic Party of Dane County didn't even get information out about local candidates until approximately 4 days before the actual election.  That's absolutely inexcusable.  No wonder candidates lose----people don't even know who they are or what they stand for.

I don't know, Pat.  At this point, I'm disgusted with the Dem. Party of WI at all levels.  If they want people to vote Democratic, they need to do a heck of a lot better than they have been at educating voters and reminding people what voting regularly means in a democracy (if we want to keep it).

They don't care about anything outside of Cook County unless they can gerrymander (unlike WI, Democrats had the power to gerrymander here in IL) themselves an advantage somewhere else in Illinois. Also, most Democratic candidates who run for public office in Illinois aren't all that far to the left of their Republican opponents.

I live in Vermilion County, in the east central part of Illinois, and the county Democratic organization here is practically nonexistent.

Being a usual Democratic voter in any part of Illinois outside of Cook County feels like being alone in a stranded boat.

It's truly a shame when someone as aware and involved as you are (and I suspect a whole lot of other people too) are left hanging as if you're in Siberia.  Yet this Party knows how to find us when they want money from us.  I'm really sick and tired of this.  I am NOT their ATM.  This situation needs to change or 2014 is going to be a massacre for Dems.

It would be nice if Democratic Party organizations in this country were interested in more than raising money. How about recruiting candidates for public office that people want to volunteer for? How about helping county and local-level Democratic organizations reach out to voters in their communities?

Dialing down my activism.  Horrible messaging and a fear of going negative have hurt us.

I say this with the recognition that Tate did want to time the recall for the prez election-that was a good call.  Other than that, outmaneuvered and messaged with the result speaking for itself.
