  •  What a gorgeous place! I love (10+ / 0-)

the Bauhaus style homes.  Your childhood home is a classic.  Were you pleased to find the house essentially unchanged?  It might be nice for you to ask her to take current photos in exchange for providing her old ones.

As the current resident of an old house, I have to say I'm delighted when the family members of previous owners contact us.  We've gotten a treasure trove of history from the people who lived it and, if they're gone, we get the stories from their descendants.

It was particularly wonderful when descendants of the slaves who were emancipated off the property contacted us.  We shared what we knew, they shared what they knew, and we became good friends.

to hear that the home is largely intact because it is an architecturally and historically important residence.

I've already sent the owner some information about the builder and first owner--my family purchased the property from the initial owners somewhere around 1948 I believe. And, I'll be sending more pictures of the exterior as well as interior shots going back to when my family owned the property.

I live in Northern California and seldom get down to San Diego, however, I think that I will get a chance to walk through the home later this year and I'm really looking forward to it.

The only trouble with retirement is...I never get a day off!
