why PBO is trying so hard to "compromise" with the radicals from the GOP.

Cut Medicare and Social Security?  Grand Bargan?

Back in the day, PBO would have been a "Rockefeller

    •  My pissed off email to the WH this morning (6+ / 0-)

      Mr. President,

I've voted for you twice and donated hundreds of dollars to your campaign and now you betray your supporters and threaten unnecessary cuts to SS and Medicare. I've worked many years and look forward to those benefits in just a few more years of work.

Please reconsider. I voted for you because I thought you would protect my interests. If I wanted Mitt Romney I would have voted for him.

I expected better from you sir!

    •  Obama is making an offer (0+ / 0-)

to get Republicans to the table. As we've have seen over the last 5 years, that doesn't mean he's slashing benefits, or cutting people's throats or mowing old people down in the streets.
He's also asking for $1.6 trillion in new revenues (no one seems to remember that part).

The upside of this strategy is clear: Obama gets “caught trying” on a budget compromise. House Republicans have put forward a series of extremely conservative budget proposals that show no interest in a compromise. Senate Democrats have a more modest plan, but one that doesn’t include any notable concessions to Republicans. Obama will position himself in the middle. He will include, in public, high-profile concessions to Republicans — though he will emphasize that he’ll only accept those concessions if they come with significant new revenues. No one will be able to say he isn’t trying to reach a deal, and the cries from liberals will prove that he’s forcing his base to accept very tough medicine.
He's been doing this since he got elected. People run around with their hair on fire, the Republicans walk away from the table, and nothing happens.
Hasn't anyone noticed that we have yet to cut any benefits to Social Security? Hasn't anyone noticed that through the ACA, we cut $800 billion from Medicare spending, yet managed to extend the benefits to more people?

This is idiotic. And cruel. The only thing it accomplishes is to boil his supporters blood and drive down his favorably ratings.

Yeah, my hair is on fire. I just called Murphy,Blumenthal and Rosa Delauro's offices to express my displeasure.

If I wanted a Republican elected, I would have voted for one.

        •  Well, it's the same offer (0+ / 0-)

that he made to Republicans last year. Are you as outraged now as you were then?
How much was Social Security cut in that deal? Oh, that's right, not at all.

What has this cruel, backward  negotiating strategy accomplished????

Just shows PBO wants to compromise for the sake of compromise.

            And mindfuck his supporters, too.

            Great, inspiring leadership.

If I want Angela Merkel, I'll move to Berlin.

            •  cruel backward strategy? (1+ / 0-)

Seriously? Please explain how an OFFER can be cruel and backward?
And if you wonder what his negotiating skills have gotten done, let's see, it got ACA passed and DADT repealed. It has accomplished a favorability rating for Republicans that is lower than roaches, it won Obama reelection, and so far not one dime has been cut from SS, while Republicans voted for a tax increase on the wealthy for the first time in 30 years.
The only supporters being mindfucked are people who haven't been paying attention to what's really been going on the last 4 years. They're too busy being outraged.
