OFA is now a 501(c)(4),  which is legally prohibited from backing candidates.

Even when they were a political organization, I dont think they ever backed someone running against an incumbent Dem.

Many staffers who used to work for OFA now support Honda's opponent. That is true.

But the president supports Honda, including appearing with him at a fundraiser this past week. OFA's focus is now on legislative priorities, including immigration reform and gun control.

As a result, I think the characterization that the whole machinery is trying to defeat Honda is just incredibly wrong.

Did you read this or are you simply in lalala land?

      Immigration reform?  Gun Control?

No mention of stealing hundreds of billions out of the mouths of seniors and dooming the prospect of electoral victory for generations.

      •  Yeah, none of that is OFA (4+ / 0-)

Which, again, by law, cant endorse candidates. They can only focus on policy issues.

Again, Obama, himself, has endorsed Mike Honda.  Explain to me how that fits into Obama's plan to apparently defeat Mike Honda?

If anything, the Dem machinery is on Mike Honda's side.

Just in case it isnt clear, I dont support Khanna's primary challenge.

But I dont think it's fair to blame Obama or OFA for it, since neither is involved in that primary challenge.

If you want to criticize OFA's former staffers for working against an incumbent Dem, that's fair.

              Lalala.

And where are your criticisms of Obama's  "former" staffers?

Where is your support of Honda?

Where is your support for 'electoral victory'?

I support Honda, I hope he wins the primary. It's not clear to me that Khanna is more conservative than Honda, but if Honda has been a strong progressive in Congress, and it looks like he has, he should win the primary.

It's unfortunate that some former OFA staffers are working against Honda here, but I dont think that should be blame on Obama or OFA. That's my point. Joe Trippi has worked for candidates I disagree with(Tony Blair for one), but I dont think that reflects badly on Howard Dean.

            •  You label it 'name calling'... (0+ / 0-)

because you have no defense against the facts.

              Well, you are exposed today.

              •  are you trying to be a dick? (0+ / 0-)

Am I late to a pie fight from some other diary between you two?  Because if I am, I don't want to be; just tell me and I will not comment a single line further and you two can have at it.

But if you read the facts of this campaign there is no reasonable way you can see this as OFA.  Its mainly just Bird and Spinner.  they can do whatever they want to do.  Vote for Honda... no one here is saying anything to the contrary.

We were trumpeting Bird for his Battleground Texas initiative and now he is a craven back-stabbing insider asshole for backing a guy he thinks should be in Congress but lives in a district that currently has a Dem rep?

Whatever.. Im on the other side of the country, I'll leave Silicon Valley representation to the people of Silicon Valley but seriously.... what the hell are you lashing out about?
