    congressional Republicans are now being questioned about why they won't accept Obama's deal, instead just dismissing it out-of-hand, by the moneyed interests of their own party.  What those interests care about is NOT the politics of the situation but the fact that cuts to the social safety net (government money) has been put on the table, money just ripe for the grabbing.  

    I'm alarmed that the Republicans actually will figure out a way to justify feeble (and undoubtedly temporary) tax hikes on upper incomes in order to get their hands on the enormous pile of government money meant to supply meager benefit to the entire population.  

    This offer from the president is worse than stupid - it's immoral and inhumane (and extremely bad politics).

      rich much more easily than we can roll back SS cuts.
