where we can pay school lunch accounts online for a fee.  Last year online payments posted fairly instantly, which to my mind, is how online payments should work, especially if you pay extra to do them. This year, inexplicably and without warning, it changed so the payments now take several days to post. You can look at the online account and see a payment was 'initiated', and then follow it through a series of steps it supposedly has to go through before finally showing up in the student's account days later. At the beginning of the year before we knew about the change, my middle schooler tried to buy lunch on an account that had nothing in it despite a payment made several days before. They told him he could not have lunch that day so he went hungry. On a day he also had cross country practice and ran over 2 miles. I was furious. I'm sure he's not the only one that's happened to--maybe not even the only one that day. It probably happens more than we know.
