okay... IFAS during some parts, but did watch the beginning and did see the runway show, commentary and end.

I think for the first time everything seemed to come together.

    FINALLY.

and I think they were a little too harsh on the young designer (I'm sorry, I don't even know all their names still at this point!!) because I didn't think her design was all that bad... however see how (for the first time) why Patricia should be given the opportunity.  The silhouette of her garment was hideous to me!!!  But it was also intriguing and different not so much in a bad way.

ps... i hated the hem on Michelle's garment.  It was horrible.  A two inch foldover??!!

the moustache guy's outfit is perfect for Tabatha Coffey.

I didn't watch.  It's good to hear they're showing better work though.  I was under the possibly premature impression that none of them had an ounce of talent!

I don't think they are the most talented of the bunch - but the format had changed... and I think results were a reflection?  I do think that it did force contestants to adapt in some ways... otherwise they'd simply screw themselves.  And maybe because in the real world of fashion, no one really can think they can do it all on their own (especially when they are all unknowns.)

I totally could see their inspirations reflected in their designs... which is why I think Patricia wasn't let go.

I didn't get why one of them didn't go off on a trip to Europe though... IFAS during that part!  LOL

I'll watch it On Demand this weekend - i like to travel vicariously.

Speaking of which, have you heard from GUG?  I wonder how he's doing!  Give him kisses for me if you chat with him.

... with all that walking he undoubtedly did.  Maybe he actually worked his knee less in his travels than he does in his yard at home.  He's a bit of a motor scooter, like you.

well... he lost access to his regular email account because AOL thought someone was trying to hack into it (since he was trying to access from abroad... and maybe also because he screwed something up?)

I think he is having a good time.  Relaxing, exciting to see new things... exciting to find a flea market!  hee hee.

It's pouring here!  And has gotten cold.  And the wind blowing up like crazy.

But tomorrow supposed to be 60.  go figure.

        •  The team concept didn't work very well. (2+ / 0-)

As someone who isn't a big fan of collaboration I can totally understand why working in teams lead to lackluster design. When you have creative vision it's very challenging to find common ground with someone who doesn't share your design philosophy or style. Too often the result is too compromised and ultimately kind of sucks.

Michelle didn't get to go to Europe with the other designers because she was the one who was almost let go last week when she failed to follow the criteria of the challenge. Her design was good but it didn't meet the requirements set forth by Nina Garcia. She redeemed herself somewhat but I wasn't all that impressed with her design. Her sportswear separates are much more hip and modern with just enough edge to keep them interesting.

Patricia was given a chance to show at Fashion Week because she has a very unique perspective and had won over Heidi Klum; as an executive producer she has a LOT of say about who goes home and who stays. Heidi really wanted to see what Patricia would create for Fashion Week. She thought it could be a really great decision and that the risk would pay off big time and we'll see something totally fresh and new although she did acknowledge it could also be a total bust.

This season it's Stanley's to lose. He's been the most consistent and his tailoring and styling have been top notch. Daniel will have to really reign in his "1980s Joan Collins" vibe to stand a chance of winning. Michelle could pull out a win if she punches it up and remembers it's a runway show. I don't think Patricia has what it takes to win although I am looking forward to seeing what she creates for the final runway.
