    to breathe second hand smoke and who surely would hate to be shot by gun, I hope any new gun laws will just be the start of series of steps that would help us be a nation that does not accept thousands of innocent lives lost as the necessary cost of limitless freedom of gun ownership.

    If we can have laws to make driving safer, why not a similar set of laws for guns? Prove adequate training and responsibility to own a gun, require insurance to cover the costs of accidents and liability, license and repeat testing/qualification on a periodic basis, penalize those who break the law.  Those "little nags" would make the world safer for the vast majority of Americans and save thousands of lives every year.

    How many innocent American lives need to be sacrificed on the alter of unfettered gun ownership?  How many billions wasted on the damage done by guns?
