The Supreme Court has a conservative majority. Neither of the cases before the court this term will result in an opinion that recognizes a fundamental right to marriage equality. The best we can hope for is that the prop 8 case will be rejected on standing, so marriage equality returns to California, and DOMA gets struck down on the Federalist argument. What we need to get marriage equality recognized as fundamental right is at least one, if not two of the most conservative justices to retire, and be replaced by sensible people.

Workers of the world, unite! You have nothing to lose but your shackles. It is by the picket line and direct action that true freedom will be won, not by electing people who promise to screw us less than the other guy.
