  •  It's hard to know facts when even (0+ / 0-)

Progressives avoid them.  At least 10,000 prosecutions have occurred, are underway, or are in process once the investigations are complete.  Those that are complete have resulted in convictions.  This will happen when you do the job carefully.  Is the CEO of BoA in jail?  No, because what he did was legal at the time.  What's different today?  It's no longer legal, and if they get stupid in the future they bail their own asses out.  Somehow that strikes me as a fairly Progressive win.

The DOJ was defending DOMA until there were enough court opinions calling it unconstitutional to justify quitting.  The thing about rule of law is it binds you, no matter what your personal belief system is.  We hated Bush for ignoring laws he found annoying and we're angry at Obama for not doing the same because it's OUR opinion that counts?  How Tea Party is that?  They'll keep busting Medical Marijuana dispensaries until there are enough findings to support allowing states to make those decisions, or until the drug laws are changed federally.  That's what Democracy is about.

Here's reality about healthcare.  Not enough votes for single-payer, too much public resistance to government health care.   Even Bernie Sanders admits that.  Not enough votes for a strong public option.  We could probably get that done in the next 4 years, since those who opposed it are now finding out their employers are fucking them over.  Maybe we could educate and activate instead of moaning and groaning?

Some of your favorite whistle-blowers might just be con artists.  I noticed the DOJ hasn't gone after the whistle-blowers who told the truth about nuclear waste storage.  Or the gulf citizens who tell the truth about eyeless shrimp and tar balls after every storm.  Wasn't one of the whistle-blower diarists banned for lying?

Just a few thoughts to ponder.

and the like. Low level cannon-fodder.

Do you seriously maintain that clerk after clerk opted to break laws all on their own; that none of them were following company policy or responding to pressure from the bosses?

That doesn't pass the laugh test.

You're absolutely right about the rule of law though! That's why the torturers and their enablers are rotting in prison as we speak.

      Oh wait

Don't even pretend there wasn't enough evidence against Cheney, Bush, Yoo, all of them, to initiate criminal investigations.

Is Thomas Drake a con artist?

I'm sorry to cause you so much stress.  Truly.  I just have a low tolerance for people repeating what some pundit told them instead of finding out what's really happening.  This is a battle for our future, not a game.  We'd better know what's really happening.

but folks like her/him just assume they know all about the critics so they can divine why they feel the way they do...

and i detest people who get their ideas from politicians and their mouthpieces and/or pundits instead of truly seeking the truth independently.

the arrogance is stunning too, just stunning. and bless their heart, they think i think this is a game and they are causing me stress, lol... if i was in a really mean mood, i'd hope they get to walk a mile in my shoes sometime soon and see how they like it... but i can't wish bad things like that on anyone... then they can talk to me about 'games'...

sigh... it's just all about the politics for some folks...

I grew up a Saints Fan even ordered an Archie Manning jersey out of the Sears Wish Book. Now I am a Drew Brees Fan but guess what, if they went AFC I wouldn't follow. That is the difference poligirl some follow when they change sides, I am not one of those people.

told me how I'm wrong, where my facts are incorrect, what it is that is so offensive to you.  I guess I'm just an uppity 'bot who isn't willing to bow to your superior understanding. Silly me.

people on your points and you have yet to disprove those... we respond to your assertions with begging to differ. no one calls you stupid or accuses you of looking at it as a game, at least not until you go on the personal attack in your response. you could have just debated the substance, but no, you have to personally belittle those who differ from you as well. and then you whine cuz your attitude is returned in kind. sigh...

i mean look at your first response to me. you start off with an insult to progressives and the first sentence in your last full para is a personal dig. and looking at the language you chose to use and the framing you used, your whole presentation is one big condescension. (and you even kind of contradict yourself in your second paragraph.)

you just want to accuse anyone who disagrees with you as stupid and you're above us and you know everything and we don't know anything and we think this is just a game. cuz we're just dumb or don't know as much as you. in short, you're acting like an arrogant asshole. and this ain't the first time it's been noticed.

if you don't want to get dismissed as simply an asshole who  argues talking points and discounts folks who don't agree with you, simply make the argument on the points and remove any possible personal references to the person you are debating from the comment. cuz when you make a comment with personal insults, you will get that returned in kind.

anyway, i know you love the last word, so you can go ahead and slime me one more time. you can insinuate how superior you are and how we just don't get it/hate Obama/only listen to what pundits say/think this is a game, etc... i'm guessing that it just makes you feel better to beat with brick bat all those people on the blogs who don't agree with you. so go ahead. attack away. show us again how superior you are to us. i won't come back and respond.

                    good day.

A lame attempt by using "uppity" and "bot" in the same sentence thinking people are so below you that will be drawn into some useless conversation.

Exactly why I didn't and don't feel the need to point out, as others took the time to, exactly why and how you are wrong.

      •  Don't even pretend you know who's being (0+ / 0-)

prosecuted.  Check it out before you repeat the same tired old stuff.

As for Cheney, it might shock you to know that he's slick.  He was in the inner circle when Iran Contra blew up, and that was hard to dump off on their chosen patsy.  Remember the kerfluffle with outing a CIA agent?  Slid thru again.  He'd have walked, become a holy martyr for the right, and a bunch of low-level agents would be serving life sentences for something they were told was legal and critically necessary.

He learned from Watergate to have no paper trail that would be prosecutable, to have patsies in place to serve the time and take the heat.  Pretty sure his rants on Fox News would be thrown out.  Fox already won the right to lie to the public.

I repeat, not all whistle-blowers are concerned citizens.  Some are.  Some are unfairly prosecuted.  Maybe we need to change our laws?

          •  Yeah right. We didn't prosecute Nixon, or (0+ / 0-)

Reagan, but now we need to get serious?  We did jackshit about our Cold War interference in foreign governments all over the world, but now it's time to straighten up and fly right?

How about this, let's start with retroactive prosecutions of the Founders for building slavery into the Constitution, then every President complicit in the genocide of the original citizens, then double-down on those who undermined foreign governments.

If we'd gotten serious about this shit 60 years ago Cheney would have been out of politics before he really got started.

prosecuting the banksters as we did in the late 80s and early 90s? that would be a good start. we put quite a few execs in prison for that.

oh wait, a lot of bad guys buddies work in gov't now, so we can't... sigh...
