    That was my spring mystery bird, a female, that was at my office window feeder a couple of days about three weeks ago.  I spent hours searching but there was no blue from what I could see and apparently the females have none, I was focused on the shades of brown which are fairly distinct from any of the more usual browns here.

    We had several rose-breasted grosbeaks, which we seldom see here in the northeastern Southern Plains, and I did notice the beaks were similar but different colors.

    The most frustrating identifications for me have always been with females alone, as I'm sure it is with most others.
