Because it seems like I'm drawing a false equivalency  between what black and white folks put up with.  I'm not.  Black people have it much worse.

I was driving a friend down to a nightclub in Houston several years ago through a poor neighborhood and the street was blocked by police cars making a bust.  Rather than proceed and take a chance at being caught in the crossfire, I detoured through the neighborhood, giving the crime scene a wide berth.

I was immediately pulled over.  I asked the cop why I was pulled over and he responded, "no white boy drives through this neighborhood after dark unless he's buying crack"

I pointed out the fact that I was 5' 10" and 200 lbs and lived in the area and was avoiding a crime scene and had to be up at 7am the next morning to go to the gym and didn't really fit the profile of a white boy buying crack.

He actually laughed and gave me back my license.

The fact is, he stopped me without cause and there wasn't a damn thing I could do about it.  I can't imagine what the outcome would have been had I been black.

I suspect he wouldn't have laughed and let me go.

If the police were to ever regain m respect, they would have to start by obeying the laws they are supposedly hired to enforce.
