that your parents weren't eating healthy meals, but how much has he actually been eating? Has his appetite slacked off for one reason or another? Sometimes it's a cycle, the appetite slips, then the nutrition slips, which increases agitation and dementia type symptoms, and the appetite slips further. It's often not about what is served, but rather what is actually ingested. And often it starts with either depression or a temporary illness, like the flu.

While we don't eat at the table together, we do have pretty set mealtimes and he cleans his plate - Mum and Dad eat in front of the FOX.

Mum makes breakfast for them every morning, he also has second breakfast after he goes to the gym or putters outside - usually a commercial breakfast sandwich.  He doesn't do lunch so much as an afternoon "snack" - half a sandwich and chips - and we all have dinner every night at 5:30.

Physically he's in good health - works out, washes the cars by hand, does the yard work, still at his Army weight and a 34 waist - he's just losing it upstairs.  I heard him singing his weird little songs to the cats this morning as usual.

And we sail and we sail and we never see land, just the rum in the bottle and a pipe in my hand...
