  •  I think I met those three guys (8+ / 0-)

at a GLSA meeting when I was in college.  They were invited by one of the GLSA campus reps (who soon afterwards left the organization) and tried to equate gays and lesbians with them and garner sympathy; they were pretty much booed out of the forum by 50 or so gay men and women who attended.

    •  When I was a grad. student (5+ / 0-)

at Cornell, there was something of a scandal when an undergraduate lost a scholarship after he started openly promoting NAMBLA.  (This was back in the '80s.)  There was a certain amount of argument as to whether the scholarship was withdrawn because he was gay or because he was promoting child molestation, and whether a granting organization had the right to withdraw its support over ostensible political views.  I don't remember how that hashed out in the end.

Not that I've been paying attention much, but as I have not heard a whole lot from NAMBLA in the past two decades, my assumption has been that NAMBLA principallly exists in the minds of conservatives who want to smear gay men.
