  •  I read that article and found it boring (16+ / 0-)

It didn't reflect my own experience with online dating all that much.

I will say, though, that what I identified from her article that rang true, rings true for women as well (obviously, my searches did not include men).

I left the article feeling like she was the problem.

Online dating is what you make of it, and honesty is critically important. Don't say you're just looking for friends then write elsewhere that you just want someone to come home to every night. Yes, you'll turn some people off if you say you're looking for a serious, long-term relationship, but you don't want to date the people that would run from that anyway.

And that sex thing, yes, it is important to have a partner with a libido similar to your own. So if yours is low, there's nothing wrong with that, but say so. I ran across plenty of women who said on their profiles that they loved, loved, loved, sex. But after exchanging just a few messages, they revealed that they didn't really, but they hoped they could find someone that made them want to.

Anyway, long story short, online dating is what you make of it. I had a decent time with it, and I did meet an amazing woman that I would have never met otherwise.

    P.S. I am not a crackpot.
