for ten more years, and he'll probably top the vote totals.

Overall, this is not good as it kills the state bench, which is pathetically uninspiring as it is.

Mr. Gorbachev, establish an Electoral College!

there most be some conservative term limit supporters fuming at how long Lockyer has managed to walk around their laws.

In fact, the occasional victory for the GOP cannot hide the fact that this country is fast heading into another era, not of two-party democracy, but a party-and-a-half system. And the GOP is the half a party- Larry Sabato

for 5 decades! The folks who wrote the term-limit laws back in 1994 forgot to take account of people playing musical chairs when it came to being term out of a statewide office.

Lockyer has already held 2 different statewide positions and is gunning for 3rd one next cycle.

his campaign account pays for the CDP convention credential lanyards every year! Without him, convention attendees would have to staple their credentials to their foreheads! The horror!

Is that not until 2016 at least will our rising stars Newsom and Harris get a chance at something with Senate or Governor next to the name.

More likely 2018, I don't see Boxer retiring.

It has become virtually impossible for a Republican to win a statewide election. The 2010 wave was probably as good as it will ever get for the GOP, and they got thumped in 8 of the 9 statewide races. The one exception was the AG race where they had the popular LA county attorney running for an open seat, and they lost even that.

It's possible that a moderate independent could beat a Dem, but that's a tall order.
