with the political benefit of being perceived to be "tough on crime" and promoting "personal responsibility", and the authoritarian and moral head-rush it can give to your average conservative politician, makes criminalizing debt an attractive and potentially lucrative opportunity to oppress and perhaps even disenfranchize.

What's not to like? Many conservatives might ask.

It means somebody did not get his/her fair share. It's in the commercial class that profit lies.
They are the middlemen who, like the highway men of old, take a cut before products and services are allowed to move on.
However, we might take note that, especially since the advent of the internet, middlemen are being squeezed out. The future of predatory taking seems bleak. Which is why the middlemen are flailing and getting while the getting is good.

What will the makers of cages on wheels do when humans revert to relying on shank's mare?

        That's not a frivolous question.

Drivers ages 15 to 20 accounted for 3.4 percent of new-car sales in 1985, or about 500,000 vehicles, according to CNW Research, an automotive market research firm. That dropped to 2.0 percent last year, or 300,000 vehicles.
