    But that's not really my point here - the point is that with almost 4 million job openings now available (and with anywheres between 3 and 5x that many Americans looking for work), why aren't these jobs being filled?

      There are several reasons why not: if I had a home that I was underwater on and couldn't sell, or if I had no income or the means to move to another area for work, of if had I visitation rights to see my children across town and the job was out-of-state, or if the job being offered was only temporary, or if the job was only offering minimum wage, or maybe I already had my car repossessed and couldn't travel an extended distance...then maybe I wouldn't try leaving Las Vegas to get a job at Walmart in Bangor Maine (especially if I had back problems and couldn't shovel snow).

      I suppose there are many reasons why certain jobs aren't being filled...but it's not because we have a labor shortage per se...or we lack the skills.
