I've been hearing that since 2009.  Barack Obama is personally popular.

It's often the same argument: Democratic Party brand and Obama's popularity.  But most things only affect either on the margins.

I think this is a bad policy for a lot of reasons, and that includes potential impact on elections in 2014, but people often overstate things re politcial impact, in my view.

Daily Kos is a little universe filled with left of center and left political junkies.

Most people don't follow politics or issues.  While polls show chained cpi is not popular, I would be the issue is muddles and people under 40 are less engaged in it.

It's a bad idea, but this nation needs so much more than just social security.  We should not go backward, so I oppose it.

But the predications I read here should be taken with a grain of salt.

I predict that by mid-May, there is a different issue people here are all upset about, and maybe rightfully so, but people outside of here will continue to live without noticing.

"Winning" Daily Kos can replace real political activism.  Even when Daily Kos was dominated, as it was in 2007 with Edwards supporters, it had no impact in Iowa.

Knowing the limits of what can be done here is important.
