    The American public doesn't understand the necessity for it. The power brokers are dead-set against it. Congress will never vote for it because it threatens their incumbency. But if public financing of Congressional campaigns were law and these campaigns were not subject to the control of special interests as they are now, this country would have a tectonic shift in how Congress governs.

    Every time public financing of political campaigns is brought up, special interests scream about spending tax money on campaigns. The American public is duped, not realizing that honest, competitive elections is the best possible use for their money.
