  •  I was at the intersection of Wilshire & Sta Monica (7+ / 0-)

a few years back and saw Rod Stewart in a convertible Corvette.  I said the exact same thing your daughter did.

You guys are older than me, that's for sure.  I have absolutely no memory of the Mouseketeers.

Mine start with Capt Kangaroo and My Greenjeans.

    •  I am more of the (9+ / 0-)

Capt Kangaroo generation too, but they showed reruns of Mickey Mouse Club and Sky King and Gumby and all the 50s stuff all the way through the 60s .... although I never remember seeing Howdy Doody.

      Still enjoying my stimulus package.

    •  I saw Rod Stewart in a white Rolls Royce (4+ / 0-)

crossing the intersection of Santa Monica and Rodeo Drive several years ago. Over the past ten years, I've seen Dustin Hoffman, Peter Fonda, Keanau Reeves, George Clooney, Al Pacino, Rob Reiner, Heidi Fleiss, the Kardashians (many times), Jennifer Aniston, Ruth Buzzi, Julie Andrews, Teri Garr, the Fonz, and many more.

My favorites include a long conversation with Val Kilmer (on Wilshire): he was in a Mercedes convertible. He saw my bassett hound leaning out the car window and started telling us about his dog. He was very personable...and one time, my two daughters and I were stuck in a long cue of cars on Wilshire waiting for the light to change. Elliot Gould pulled up next to us. We all were staring at him, so he gave us a goofy look, then started cleaning his teeth with his sunglasses.

    •  The Captain Kangaroo generation dates back (4+ / 0-)

to the early Mouseketeer years. You just came upon it later :)

...ok now wait. When I googled the two shows, the googley thing in the top right of the screen gave the first show date for BOTH as October 3, 1955. I can believe the year, but... the same DAY? Lordy, it should be a national holiday if that's true ;)

then, Captain Kangaroo in the mornings and Mouseketeers in the afternoon.

        Hello Mouseketeers, Hello Mickey !!
I was there with my ears on everyday.

I wanted everything Annette and like I said above, even my baby sister is named after all because well, my parents said I could. LOL.

I remember Talent Roundup, round em up, bring em in, everybody's sure to win, step right up, here we go, oh what a radio.
