    I find it confusing and just participate on an "as needed" basis. The English/Language Arts seems all over the map. He did not read a whole book all year, just bits and pieces. The high school is the same, from what I understand, but he has the chance to do International Baccalaureate in his last two years. He has turned serious about his studies recently, and gets good grades and seems to be learning but I do feel like he is a lab rat. He is in eighth grade.

      quite a few Texas testing regimens. Each was "new and improved."  We lived through TEAMS, then TAAS, then TAKS and now it is STAAR, although they have graduated.  

      I do hope you take him to a real bookstore periodically to pick out some fun reads.  Those are the ones I mainly remember from school - I was heavily into Bradbury and Heinlein about that time.
