    It's sickening.  You can lazily predict that Republicans will say no, but can't even imagine that that is what the President is counting on.  Totally unthinkable!  And you would rather call Teabaggers "heroes" than Barack Obama.  You're in Jane Hamsher land now.

      If one party is voting to protect Social Security, and the other is offering to cut it, which party is performing better re: Social Security?  Your argument that it would be to Obama's credit if they say no to his offer is made to look ridiculous by the fact that, well, it's his offer in the first place.  

      And, of course, there's the greater possibility that it will pass, and be signed in to law, and Obama will take credit for being so bipartisan.  At that point, you'll have a new excuse for why he's a hero, I'm sure, but I've already discounted that, so fine, start working on that one now if you like.
