but Truman, who was also in the shadow of FDR like Obama, had perspective, talking about the heat in the kitchen and giving the opposition hell. Our greatest president Washington, had his detractors like Jefferson, our second best Lincoln, faced grumbling around his reelection even during wartime. LBJ ranked #6 resigned after primary challenges. Our greatest living president Jimmy Carter faced a primary challenge and is basically exiled from the party. So maybe its not fair. But free speech criticizing the president's policies and performance is a constitutional right and duty. The grand bargain is a policy choice people are concerned about along with other issues. Certainly Obama is aware of the constructive criticism from allies such as Robert Reich, Paul Krugman, Howard Dean, Ray McGovern, Jeffrey Toobin. He is capable of setting the record straight. Obviously the buck still stops with Obama, and 2014 will give a readout. People may be skittish because of 2010.

by the standards of a voluntary community, and a reality-based community can't really be worth anything if "reality" is denigrated to the point of pure opinion.  Real discussions on any subject are not really what this is about, but rather the fabrication of false narratives and the people who adopt them as de facto religious beliefs, using issues du jour as cloaks to troll.
